Hi Dave, I am a new band gym member, but have been training most of my life. I have really valued your teaching videos over recent years and acquired an assortment of your quantum bands. Up to now, I have been using bands in a somewhat supplementary fashion to other training I was doing. Early on, I found your recommendations on horizontal vector work and standing core work as particularly enlightening. I decided to join the band gym to go deeper. As I have gotten older, I have been exploring how to train vigorously in ways that build me up – not tear me down…..and bands definitely seem to have a place in that. I am 65 and fit and very active. I just wanted to share that I am quite impressed with all the information and direction you are providing in the band gym site. The resource is well worth the membership price! Thanks for putting it all together for us!

I am doing 5-6 sessions a week with the bands. My 74 year old body is changing and I am looking a lot more youthful. I don’t see any 74 year olds around here that look as good as I do.
Many years ago I was a track cyclist. When I was 46 I had a very bad accident on my track bike and I lost the use of my right arm for 7 months. I severely damaged the brachial plexus. I lost a tremendous amount of muscle in my right arm and shoulder and upper back. I rehabbed myself but was never the same. My bicep was about the diameter of a pencil. Over the years I’ve gained a lot back but never got above about 80%.
Since I got bands I have been concentrating a lot of effort to bring myself back to 100% on my right side. Dave, I am almost there. I have had significant muscle growth in arm, shoulder and upper back and traps. The bands make it easy to reach into hard to work old muscles. My right bicep is nearly as large as my left and I am sure I will equalize my right and left sides.
This is great stuff. A 74 year old CAN gain muscle. My waist is smaller now as well. I am down two pants sizes but am up 3 pounds from my lowest. That can only mean I have gained muscle. BTW, the instructions in the band gym are very helpful.

I’m a huge fan of all you do! I’m a personal trainer and online coach and I’ve been using your bands in my own training and with clients, as well as recommending them to everyone I know, for the last five years. I believe your bands are the best on the market; they’re the most durable and are almost infinitely useful. Thanks for making a great product as well as all the fantastic content you put out!
Thanks for everything,

I’m a 28-Day Challenge grad, now in the middle of my 3rd week of the 28-Day Momentum Builder. I’m happy with my Band Gym membership and have completed the checkboxes. I’m 72 and in reasonably good shape despite an artificial knee implanted 6 months ago. I’m coming off 5 years of Bodylastics/Eternity Warrior tube training, and before that about 5 years with a Total Gym. I have a set of loop bands purchased before I discovered RBT and have supplemented them with purchases of RBT bands and accessories. I plan to completely transition to Quantum over time.
As a veteran home exerciser, I wanted you to know how impressed I am with RBT. I like the versatility of the loop bands, your short instructional videos, well-balanced programs, and opportunities for personal coaching.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

I LOVE this workout! Almost as much as I have loved this challenge!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and passion with us. Working out with bands has been a game-changer for me. I enjoy them so much, that I look forward to working out now. In the past, I have struggled with consistency in working out. This was mostly for 2 reasons: I hadn’t found something that I truly enjoyed and I didn’t have clear instructions. With RBT, both of these reasons have been eliminated. Thank you!
Thanks again for helping me get better with bands!

Just wanted to let you know I’ve been using the band system to rehab a partial shoulder/bi tear from a year ago while trying to lift atlas stones (ridiculous), I’m a 52-year-old chiropractor and need my shoulders to be healthy, I love how I have learned how to move and control my shoulder girdle using the bands, thanks again for all your hard work, if people would put in the time to learn to use the bands properly there’d be a lot more functional people in a lot less pain.
Have a good weekend,

Dave Here are my goals with RBT…
Being Functional and mobile
After having a lot of serious health issues that I’m addressing now, I want to live and do the everyday physical tasks well. After using free weights for 4 years of this phase of my journey. I’m beginning to realize that bands have a lot more to offer me to achieve a fully functional and mobile body
My last goal is to enjoy my workouts and have fun while working towards my goals. Having now dabbled into the world of bands, I can see already that bands offer a better and healthier variety of exercises across so many different planes of motion and moves. While free weights have helped my body, I think the mundane workouts and the same “up and down” movement patterns of free weights have stagnated my brain more than anything else. It is invigorating to think that I can use these in a park on a sunny day or that I can integrate my whole body with a combination of moves all into one exercise unlike with free weights.
Thanks and regards,

Dave… I am not on Facebook, but I wanted to let you know that the RBT 28 Day Challenge has been such a help to me. I so appreciate all the labor you put into it and all the other videos and articles I receive from you. You’ve given me hope that at 57 years of age there are ways to workout besides free weights that at my age have only proven to beat up my body.
Hey Dave, I am a Band Gym member. As you requested, I absolutely LOVE the Band Gym. I am 54, have been into fitness most of my life but as time has gone on, my joints are tired. I am really trying to pay attention to form, ergonomics, and technique to avoid injury, but time is having its way, so I must change too. A new series MA40 inspired me to tweak my workout regimen for my age and here I am. The way the content (in The Band Gym) is presented is just fine and I have already felt the immense pump in working with bands.
My work is very physical. I am a home improvement guy and have a small handyman shop in Boston, MA area but more importantly, I am a professional drummer in a number of bands and musical combos. I cannot afford to become overly tight or stiff in my joints and working with weights all the time creates a lot of added, non-joint friendly tension. The bands seem to allow a range of both resistance and control during the movements. This creates a more joint-friendly scenario. I worked hard the first three days with you and had a gig last night with NO issues whatsoever. Let’s see how it keeps ongoing. I’ll let you in on more as it unfolds, but I can plainly see RBT is where I need to be able to keep doing the things I want to as I age. After mastering many of the programs (which I will), I may decide to help train other (old) musician friends of mine here in Boston.
Thank you for doing what you do

First off I want to say that I love your products and your workout videos! They have changed my life infinitely for the better. I am fifty-four years old and I am getting stronger by leaps and bounds. My shoulders, back, knees, neck and various other injured body parts have all healed. My athleticism has returned to stellar levels. It’s almost unbelievable how much I have changed in the last two years. I have always had exceptionally fast hand & foot movement, and coordination but to my surprise, I have gotten even quicker. I have patiently done your exercises starting with your smallest orange band and gradually worked my way up as l healed. They work your body WAY HARDER than weights. My abs have gotten as hard as they were as a teenager. I walk around feeling like a coiled up steel spring. Thank you so much for all your efforts in helping people like me! I appreciate you, Dave!!!!
P.S., I don’t know if you have heard but there is a guy on YouTube named James Grage stealing your material. He says “Welcome to RBT, Resistance Band Training. He claims that he couldn’t find any quality band training on YouTube, so he started his channel. B.S.! A quick search shows both your channels with tons of videos. I am sorry about having to tell you this. I just really respect you and couldn’t let it slide. Thanks again for all your help. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
Sincerely, Todd Owen
I will be 61 next March. I had surgery in early June on my right elbow for a staph infection. I was released on July 10th to start strength and rehab “on my own”.
I am doing full 60-minute band tabata workouts for the past 2 weeks and ramped up to that from July 10th when I started with light bands. I never could have done that progress with my free weight routines of years past. I also use bands to stretch every day.

I am 2 weeks into the SeniorSTRONG program. Here are my impressions after the second week.
1. The stabilizer band has allowed me to do more squats than I thought I’d be able to do without aggravating my knees, maybe even improving them. The stabilizer bands looked sort of phony to me, but I think they’re great. I would have never thought exercises like that could be so beneficial.
2. I’ve begun to use my core more consciously. In my practice of aikido, I’ve always had a hard time being able to “connect” my upper and lower body, to use my body as a unit as opposed to a disjointed connection of parts. I found training with bands, at least in this SeniorSTRONG program, to have helped me have a better sense of moving/working the body as a unit.
3. It’s been more intense than I thought it would be. I’d like to thank you for presenting a real road to fitness and not some “well, anything is better than nothing”. When I’ve finished a workout, I KNOW I’ve finished a workout. The first week I started “late”, i.e., on a Wednesday instead of a Monday. I did 4 days in a row and started “week two” on a Monday. I needed more recovery time that first week. Week 2 has gone better in that I feel I’m recovering better. I’ve been doing workouts 1 and 2 on consecutive days, then a day off, then 3 and 4 on consecutive days, then 2 days off. (And, I have aikido classes Monday-Thursday) The intensity/recovery issue may be the result of my lightest bands being the red ones.

I wanted to thank you for all your time, energy, and expertise. I recently joined the Band Gym because I got such great results hardly doing anything. Just 2-3 attachment-free band workouts a week, with some dynamic stabilizer. I would work out in 20/10 and do anywhere from 2 to 10 sets depending on my energy. Over several months, I lost weight, my balance improved, and I felt more athletic. So I thought why not go all in and join the gym. And I’m so glad I did.
As a 61-year-old man, I am focusing on your flexibility program for a few more weeks before moving onto aggressive workouts.
I’ll be in touch as I progress. But again, thank you for all you do.

Thank you so much for the login info- it’s great to be able to access my programmes again, I love the look of your new website. I’ve been away from training after a few difficult years but I’ve started up again with Bandstrong & I’m absolutely loving using bands again. Your workouts are never boring & are so well put together.
Thanks for all you do Dave, bands remain my favorite way to exercise & make me feel fantastic!
All the very best,
I am definitely for bands. I am now 53 years old and have been training for about 40 years.
I have done almost anything you can think of: barbells and dumbbells, sandbags, kegs, tires, kettlebells, clubbells, bodyweight, and finally bands.
I have competed in powerlifting and bodybuilding, but it was a long time ago 🙂
I was doing bodyweight only workouts already for about 5 years. Lots of pushups, pull-ups, and lunges. I had bought a set of bands to help me progress with pull-ups.
The volume of training had become so high (500 push-ups, 150 pull-ups, and 20 minutes of lunges) that it was very time consuming and the elbows were beginning to ache more and more until I could not do pull-ups without pain.
I thought I could use those bands I had to work out differently, and it worked tremendously. The contraction I get with bands is not matched by anything else.
Workouts are short, very intense, and fun. My condition improved very much, I lost some body fat, I do not feel “beaten” after a workout anymore, and most importantly, the pains are gone.
I train now exclusively with bands for about 4 months, and I love it. Workouts every other day for about 20 minutes. The bands I use the most are the 50, 80 and 100 lbs.
The videos you post in your weekly newsletter are very helpful to set up routines with effective exercises.
Have a great day,
I’m an avid runner, I’ve run several marathons including the Boston Marathon.
Last year I kept getting injured because I was just running and not strengthening my body enough to handle the load. I found RBT on YouTube and ordered bands and Stabilizers.
The BANDS are fantastic and so portable. BUT The BAND GYM is even better as I can now train with a directed purpose. However, the BEST part of The BAND GYM is having access to DAVE and having him guide you through your training. In the short time I’ve had the bands and especially the Dynamic Stabilizers the long-standing issues I’ve had with my knees, hips and glutes have diminished.
Thank You RBT and Dave, I can’t recommend the Bands, the Band Gym, and Dave any stronger. My only regret is that I had not come across RBT and Dave sooner.

Hi Dave! I really need to share this with you and shoutout a big THANK YOU for your videos and your passion with your bands. My husband and I live in Hawaii and we are avid surfers. I’m a surf instructor as well. Our goal is to be in the best shape possible for what we do. We recently took a trip to New Jersey to visit family and we stayed a month. I was concerned that I was going to lose my surf fitness, but we took our bands with us and every day, we did our workout. It was 99% bands plus the addition of a TRX trainer. We just got back and went for a surf. Usually, after a month of not surfing, I’m a bit off and out of shape. Not this time!! In fact, I have never felt stronger. My paddling and balance were all on point thanks to the bands! On top of that, my husband has been using the bands for a year now to alleviate his lower back pain. Not only does he have a 6 pack at 45 years old, best of all, the bands are the antidote for his pain. Amazing and awesome. I can’t live without them and neither can he. Again, thank you, thank you for your product and the knowledge you put on YouTube!!!!

It would seem others are now starting to see the benefits of bands you’ve been preaching for years. Think I’ve said before, but I’ve got to say it again – you’ve really nailed it with the band gym & the best value is you teach fitness lessons that last a life-time – I’m not a personal trainer, but with the knowledge you’ve armed me with, I’m pretty sure I could get results if I was hired as one! My heart rate is in an athlete range & my metabolic age is way younger than my natural one – around 15 years less, last time I was tested!
Thanks again for all you do, I’m sure you have a bigger impact than you realize, look forward to hearing from you soon

I’ve been using bands for over 3 years. I turn 65 in August. Work out 5 times per week. Two days of bands, 2 days of walking 18 holes of golf (6 miles per round), and add in a short Wog (walk-jog combo). I’m fanatical about my band routine, mixing in some yoga and stretching. Lots of core stuff helps my lower back. Wonderful not to be laid up several times a year in pain.
I take my bands when traveling – ie Maui by the beach is my favorite setting!
Many thanks for your frequent emails with new exercises. Love to work in new routines.
Dave… I have trained with bands for about 2 years now. Before I trained with free weights for about 10 years. But I will say the pump you get on band training is absolutely CRAZY! It beats any arm curls you can do 🙂

I want to thank you, Dave! For the first time in 15 years, I participated in our school’s staff/student softball game. It’s been a long time since I felt like participating. I actually got two hits which for me is quite an accomplishment, and I was able to run the bases with ease, another accomplishment. I give a lot of credit to the workouts you have designed. I am more athletic now at 56, then when I was in high school. And that’s no exaggeration. My next goal is to train for a half marathon. I’m also enjoying the new cardio shred.

Thanks for the swift response. I do all my training with bands. They are perfect for protecting joints, promoting mobility, and fitness. I gave away all my weights a couple of years ago. I’d taken on board your information about injury and damage to the body. In my late 70’s, I find that bands are ideal. I have abandoned the notion of testing my strength with weights, and instead, make full use of the full range I have of your excellent bands.
Your points about timed routines are well taken, but I like sets and reps. I guess it is as simple as that. EG: drop sets; sets to failure with thunder bands: chest presses, squat rows – a great exercise. The sheer variety is remarkable.
Overall, I am feeling good and fit using bands. That is the best test.
The Gym is a great institution. Thanks for all the support.

I am OK today. I just wanted to thank you for the videos and the Quantum bands that have been a key part of my stroke recovery. Have recommended your site to fellow veterans at the VA (rehab) and to a therapist I encounter. You don’t know me but you helped me beyond measure. Words cannot express how grateful I am to you. I have experienced shoulder issues, pinched nerve in the neck, and knee pain all in the last couple of years. I had stopped going to the gym and was sick of doing only PT exercises. I found you through online searches and loved your message. I watched a ton of the FREE resources you provide, and slowly but surely built strength, stamina, and flexibility using your band exercises and program. I particularly appreciate how responsive you have been by email even before I was a paid member! I am a true believer and appreciate how you continue to provide new material every week. I have a full-fledged “band gym” in my basement, and I can now do overhead exercises I never thought possible again. I am even starting to feel that running might be in my future again! Thanks for all you do!
I’ve been using your bands and programs for about 8 months. I can say that I am stronger and more flexible than I thought possible. I stayed fit for decades through running and free weights. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, my body started to show some wear and tear a couple of years ago at age 56. Because of lower back issues, I’ve had to cut back on running and workouts with free weights that caused unfamiliar achiness and soreness. I almost resigned myself to limited workouts and a marginal fitness level. Fortunately, a local physical therapist recommended your training systems. The results have been amazing. I’ve successfully completed some beginner and intermediate level programs and I look forward to stepping it up a bit.
Thank you for any support you can provide.
Hey Dave! I just wanted to share with you how much I love working out with these bands. Today I went hiking up a steep incline and scaled it like a Ram! I’m 53 years old and went through a back fusion 2.5 years ago that left me with radiculopathy. These bands are helping me strengthen my core better than anything I have tried. My overall strength and stamina is remarkable! I appreciate your knowledge and teachings of these bands. Thank you!

I have improved my shoulder health greatly by using the bands 3 times per week for 30 minutes with exercises you’ve shown me. The pain is all but gone. I owe you a lot for getting rid of my pain, that alone was worth 10 times the price of the bands.
Thank you for getting me onto bands helping my joints feel amazing!

Hey Dave! Sharing my update. One week in with RBT & I have religiously done the Double Vector Butt Buster every day for at least 1-2 rounds of 30s on/15s rest of those 8 exercises. I feel amazing!!!! A lot of my hip pain from a prior labral tear surgery is feeling better as well!!! Thank you thank you!

You do an incredible job of educating your customers and marketing your bands. I am a 49 yr old trainer and neuromuscular therapist. I have systemic Lupus(which includes rheumatoid arthritis). These bands have changed my life and my body. The fact that I can have the bands wrap around my wrists is not only great for my hands but really allows me to sculpt the muscle rather than overuse my hands and forearms.
Thank you for providing a quality product.

Dave, you’re great! I love watching your videos ( I put those workouts to use also lol), and even mix them up in my own routines. I love how passionate you are about training, and in particular, resistance bands! I am a firm believer that you can totally transform your body and get in great shape using them.
You’ve inspired me to continue training and coming up with fun and creative exercises. I love bands, and I love training at home. So thanks again for all that you do and keep the resistance going haha!
Dave is “The Authority” on band training and Dave’s article “Movement Vs Muscle” is spot on.
I am turning 72 this month. I am not as strong as I was in my 50’s but I am stronger than most men 20 years my junior. My balance and flexibility is better than ever. That is because I have moved from almost entirely weight training to Resistance Bands, Yoga and some moderate weight training. Any time I lift weights more than moderately, I feel it in my joints far more than in my muscles and that is not a good thing. I have a variety of resistance band types and brands. I have tried other resistance band training programs. Dave’s bands and his training programs are the best I have found anywhere.

You’re the best! Band workouts came at just the right time. My disease is progressing but the band’s give me confidence. I don’t have to fear throwing/dropping weights and the band’s move with me without the pull of gravity. Totally enjoying it! You need to market this to the handicapped

I’m seventy-eight. I trained with weights for years. When I passed seventy, motivation reduced: I worried about lower back pain and injured joints. I gave my weights and power rack to a friend’s grandson, a keen bodybuilder.
I trained with Kettlebells for several years and enjoyed short, intense routines. However, when I passed seventy-five, I had the same concerns as when I trained with weights. Training with kettlebells, I discovered Dave Schmitz and Getting Better With Bands; a God Send. Bands gradually replaced Kettlebells. I’ve not trained with Kettlebells this past year.
Now I train only with bands three to four times a week for thirty to forty minutes. I feel the better for it. My Chiropractor confirmed that my back is in excellent condition and I’m in decent shape. These days there are no aches and pains.
Thanks, Dave for the great equipment and advice.

Appreciate the opportunity for the sneak peak into the new BAND GYM. Like to formal and layout. Simple to use and find things I was looking for.
I’ve had the pleasure of getting emails from you over the last five years, which got me to purchase a variety of band products that I’ve used and introduced to my sons as well. I’m not a spring chicken (53 yrs old), but have found RBT and the BANDs to be a more conducive way for me to train more dynamically over the years.
I’m an avid runner and just completed my 8th marathon last month so not interested in bulking up. Rather I’ve found the bands enable me to “lift” and strengthen my upper & lower body in a way to keep my posture strong late on long training runs and the marathons.
My two sons run XC in college as well and trying to direct them to use bands as well in addition to their weight & strength conditioning programs at school. For me, I like the simplicity of being able to bring my ‘gym’ equipment with me on the road and workout like I want to wherever I am.
Grateful for all of the details and workouts you’ve provided over the years. I’ve kept many of those emails as a way to go back and check what I’m doing and what other nuggets I may have missed the first time. Great new site and thanks again for making this information and yourself available to me and so many others. Appreciate your availability and more so interest in helping people. Take care and have a good day.
Dave, Since beginning resistance band training I have lost 12 pounds and I’m really seeing the difference. For the first time in 25 years, I am under 200 pounds. I have lost a total of 60 pounds and while most of the weight has been lost prior to beginning resistance band training, I am actually SEEING more of a difference since beginning RBT. Thanks again!

Just completed my first full-fledged band workout a few minutes ago and it went very well. At 70, I have typical joint issues, but your core stabilization exercises (banded planks) helped my low back, and the hip work (push outs, etc) got those nice and loose. Got a good sweat over 60 minutes and, maybe best of all, I suspect bands are easier on the nervous system. (I can no longer work hard enough with weights to get a good sweat going.)
I’m very pleased with the early progress. I probably will need to have a bone spur in my right shoulder shaved, but with bands, I expect rehab to go better than my previous shoulder surgery.
My only regret is not getting to you sooner.

I totally agree with using Bands Dave. I have been using them myself and instructing all our employees, staff and clients for 15 years here at Bellin on their benefits and I will continue to do my best to get people to make a better CHOICE. I have recently been tasked to fill in as a CSCS at one of our contracted schools and have introduced RBT to the athletes and they love them. I knew they would and its great watching young athletes enjoy their workouts with bands.
I should have replied a while back but I loved your response to the gentleman who asked about traditional strength training vs using bands. I have been send that information to every man I get a chance to, trying to convince them to make bands a major part of their workouts.
Keep up the great work. I love your emails.

Just wanted you to know that I’ve had my bands for a couple of months now and love them. My shoulders elbows and knees feel great. They are my problem spots and feel better than they have in years. Thank you
I follow you on Instagram. I started the planks today. The videos are great.

Thanks for the update and reminder. This speaks to your integrity and I really appreciate it. I’ve lifted for 35+ years and know how to program my workouts in that realm. Having just turned 50 this month my goals have changed. I have mobility issues due to tightness and a bit of arthritis in my spine, not to mention some shoulder issues. I’ve been trying to incorporate some stretching and yoga into my week but I work 55 hours a week (literally. No exaggeration) and can only workout about a half hour a day. I travel for my job so my workout has to be mobile too. Prior to working so much and having 6 children I was an ultra runner too but that had to go by the wayside. I say all this to say bands and your philosophy of movement first and the flexibility of bands to be used anywhere fists my needs perfectly. I’ve been working out for 2+ weeks using the bands -stretching with them as well- and have felt some benefit in reduced pain in my low back and thoracic region as well. I need to keep learning so, I say all this to say I’m staying on with you for a bit. I’m loving the bands and am feeling better and feel confident that I can keep my fitness and rehab myself as well in the areas I need to. It’s interesting to have a coach who has their foundation in physical therapy and yet is an athlete as well. I feel like I get the best of both worlds, athleticism based in knowledge of kinesiology. I work with a lot of geriatrics so I see what happens when one stops moving and loses mobility (I’m a hospice care social worker) and muscle. I truly feel like I have found the system that I can use for the rest of my life to have total fitness in all parameters-strength, mobility, cardio, power, speed, etc… Prior to finding your info and products I was doing bodyweight stuff. That fits all my needs but I like being able to add resistance as well and the bands allow me to do that while staying still allowing me to work out when and where I need to. So, I’m staying on as a member so I can keep learning. Thanks so much.
