I started with a ’21 day challenge’ in Spring of 2020 and did the first ever Fit Camp and have continued happily since then.
I could never have gotten into my present (still work in progress vastly improved) shape in a conventional gym. When I’d get back to the weight room I would rapidly gain strength to the point where I was putting too much stress on my shoulders well before I got where I wanted to go—but with bands it’s almost back to how I felt when I started weight training aged 15!
I love the monthly routines you’ve been providing and I’m looking forward to more of your ‘Challenges’ in 2023 (assuming always that I survive the current one and the Christmas pudding).

Hi Dave
I want to thank you for checking in with me regarding the resistance bands. So far I’m really loving them a lot! Since my injury a year and a half ago where I had a staph infection in my knee, I needed to regain a lot of Lost strength. It’s taking quite a while but I’m pleased to say that I’m back running and playing volleyball and tennis just like before. With the help of these resistance bands and some of the exercises I’ve been doing I’d say I feel even better than before I had the infection.

Your note today pairs well with the one you sent a week or so ago with the eight points on making one’s exercise set-up convenient and hassle-free.
Our senior condo is a two-bedroom, two-bath with an office. We made the 2nd bedroom our exercise room. There’s a console with a high-end stereo and TV, an old Nordic Track wood cross-country ski machine (motorless), a 100-pound stacked dumbbell set, yoga mats, and of course, my RBT bands, RBT hip bands and dynamic stabilizers. We’ve got a ceiling fan in there, and the big windows look out at the Colorado Front Range Rockies. I look forward to going into that space, turning on the music, working out and enjoying the view.
Having that set-up in our living space is an enabler that contributes to my workout dynamic. It allows me to vary my workout times depending on our schedule. Quite often, like today, I’m able to get a 20-minute to 30-minute workout in the morning, followed with an hour or 90-minute workout in the afternoon. If I had to travel to a gym, I wouldn’t be able to do that.
Then again, your RBT bands allow me to get a good workout anywhere, anytime. Your bands are an integral, dominant part of every one of my workouts. At 74, I’m still going strong.
Your RBT bands and exercise guidance have changed and improved my life.

I just wanted to thank you for all you do. A few years ago I was always looking to get an edge and have my athletes get stronger and faster. So I’m the local speed guy in my town.
I love the band workouts for speed and agility and power.

I became a member about a month ago, being 70 years old is coming. I’ve decided to do the senior workout program for a while. And I had a few other exercises to it. I am glad I bought a bar though you and not a shower bar from a hardware store. Also bands and band connectors, l love using bands together. Your saying “ mobility stability and flexibility”

You did a very good job in describing the inevitable changes that happen as we age and unfortunately I am experiencing them more and more with each passing year.
Fortunately though I believe I have been able to slow these changes down significantly through the use of resistance bands.
Resistance bands have helped me to not only maintain strength, mobility, flexibility, and muscle definition but also with what I believe in some ways is more important, is that it has helped me with balance and core strength.
Also your training tips and workout videos have significantly motivated me to stay focused and to be the best that I can be as I age.

Hello Dave,
A couple of years ago I sent you a floor plan of our bonus room and you gave recommendations on bar placement. Here is a picture of that area in our gym.
I think my husband was a little skeptical of all the uses and benefits of band training. He kept wanting to use heavy free weights. But I didn’t purchase those so he was kind of forced to figure out the bands. Now he loves them! He’s able to do exercises that do not hurt his shoulder. He’s also able to do more precise workouts than he expected.
He’s a fan and so am I.

I just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed the January workouts and the first week of the February workouts. They are certainly challenging me. I really like having a workout. I’m hoping to develop overall strength that will translate into improved running. At 63, almost 64, I feel really good about my fitness level. Although I enjoy your workouts, I hope to be able to eventually develop my own workouts to maintain and improve fitness and compliment my running.
I really enjoy my band membership, it is the best money I have spent for fitness.

Hi Dave, just thought I would give feedback on the daily workouts you are providing in the new band gym. I find this really useful. I tend to squeeze workouts in at lunchtime, now I work from home following the pandemic. Having the week’s workouts available means I can program them all into seconds pro at the start of the week and I am ready to go each day. No thinking about what workout I am going to do. For those who work, have kids, a house to maintain and a wife to keep happy, this really is useful. This also means I have an ever growing bank of workouts available on seconds pro. The versatility of RBT has to be one of the biggest plus for me. Finally, its bands, so I look forward to every workout, so motivation isn’t an issue. Please keep this new aspect of the band gym going! Also finding the new layout easier to navigate. Fantastic as always, Dave and team.

I’ve been training with bands for about seven years. I wish I was introduced to bands at a younger age. Today at 60 I’m beating kids on the tennis court half my age. It is hard to believe that COVID has been with us a full year. I believe that bad events often make us better– and there’s no finer example of that than my own experience with RBT. Like many of your Band Gym members, I found your site out of desperation when my gym closed. I had no idea what bands were all about. I always associated them with click-bait articles showing buff supermodels claiming amazing results using cheap tube bands. I’ve never been happier to be wrong!
Your Band Gym has provided a year of learning. Before, I could not imagine training without my gym. Now, I cannot imagine training without my bands. They have not replaced weights or other forms of exercise in my routine. But they have really enhanced my enjoyment of them. They are also preparing my body for years of joyous mobility as I age– something no other form of strength training does as effectively.
I look forward to continuing to learn from your emails and videos. It took something as bad as COVID lockdowns for me to find you. But I’m confident I’ll be enjoying RBT long after COVID is gone.

Dave’s Band Gym has been a game changer for me. I am 35 years old and have had 3 shoulder surgeries from football and baseball with the last one being 15 years ago. I have completed 2 Band Gym training programs and my shoulder has never felt better! I have been to physical therapy countless times over the years. Nothing has worked for my shoulder pain and tightness like the Band Gym. Of course, I have done “bands” before given this is a staple in physical therapy. However, training with Dave and his bands is on a whole different level. Dave is a great coach who is very passionate, motivated, and innovative. Dave walks you through each workout step by step and provides helpful tips for every exercise. My overall physique, muscle tone, and stability have changed significantly and I feel better and look better. So much that my wife wants to start training with bands! I am a believer because I am getting results. Prior to the Band Gym, I was playing competitive basketball 3X per week and attending fitness classes at my Health Club. No doubt I will continue to get better and stay better with bands by continuing to train with Dave’s training programs both new and old while still having fun at the Club. I can’t wait to get back on the hardwood. I know I am bigger, stronger, and faster than I was 3 months ago! Thanks Dave!!!

A progress report: I added bands to my workout regimen right after my gym closed for lockdown last spring. My initial goals were modest: I was not overweight. I just wanted to not lose strength until my gym reopened. But once I got started with bands, I was hooked. I never went back to my gym. I’m now 20 pounds lighter and noticeably stronger. More importantly, I have not had any of the soreness that used to be a regular part of gym life. That’s enabled me to train longer and harder. There’s just no better feeling than the metabolic “pump” I get after an RBT workout. I hope I’ll be able to have that feeling for years to come.

I highly appreciate that the newsletter is positive without blowing smoke. There’s no negging, there’s no macho BS, there’s no doomsaying about what’s going to happen if you don’t do the program or buy the stuff. But there are also no grandiose claims of instant success for everyone — just steady encouragement to keep working. All of this is truly, genuinely rare in any corner of fitness culture. Plus, knowing that you actually DO read and respond to emails means that we all know that everything you write is sincere.

My RBT journey began when I visited a trainer for an assessment when I turned 50 in 2012. I have always exercised, and was looking for information on how to train more effectively as I age.
The trainer used resistance bands, which I had never seen before. He mentioned RBT, and I ordered a starter set. I have used your bands ever since. I am decidedly stronger, but better yet, I move with less pain (I had an ACL repair in 1985 which hasn’t held me back, but the bands helped me full strengthen and lengthen muscles so that my movement is essentially the same on both sides of my body), and I am leaner. My back doesn’t bother me anymore – I think this is due to better core strength which comes from working with bands!
I look forward to new exercises in your weekly emails. I am really impressed with how accessible you are via email. My husband recently retired, and he is now a member of the Band Gym.
