You’re the best! Band workouts came at just the right time. My disease is progressing but the band’s give me confidence. I don’t have to fear throwing/dropping weights and the band’s move with me without the pull of gravity. Totally enjoying it! You need to market this to the handicapped

Thanks Dave! Been loving your bands and it’s easy to see the difference in quality. I have some similar other brands that start shredding up pretty quickly when I attached them together. Yours have been issue free and strong as hell.

I am a recovering heart attack patient of 2 years ago. I have been receiving your emails and studying your work through your website for the past year. Limited space at home and not wanting to deal with heavy weights has prompted me to ramp up the work I have already begun using bands. Your explanation of flat bands over what I am currently using has convinced me to switch. I want to primarily continue the cardio workouts I do at rehab and at home, but I realize that the strength training segments, although somewhat limited, have significantly increased my endurance factor while doing the cardio. Increased strength training using the stretch bands is now my immediate goal. I have assimilated about 12 exercises which I have seen you demonstrate over the past year which I am beginning to incorporate in my home routine.
I would appreciate your thoughts (on exercises) and also my thanks for all the information and guidance you have been for me over the last year.
I’m seventy-eight. I trained with weights for years. When I passed seventy, motivation reduced: I worried about lower back pain and injured joints. I gave my weights and power rack to a friend’s grandson, a keen bodybuilder.
I trained with Kettlebells for several years and enjoyed short, intense routines. However, when I passed seventy-five, I had the same concerns as when I trained with weights. Training with kettlebells, I discovered Dave Schmitz and Getting Better With Bands; a God Send. Bands gradually replaced Kettlebells. I’ve not trained with Kettlebells this past year.
Now I train only with bands three to four times a week for thirty to forty minutes. I feel the better for it. My Chiropractor confirmed that my back is in excellent condition and I’m in decent shape. These days there are no aches and pains.
Thanks, Dave for the great equipment and advice.

Appreciate the opportunity for the sneak peak into the new BAND GYM. Like to formal and layout. Simple to use and find things I was looking for.
I’ve had the pleasure of getting emails from you over the last five years, which got me to purchase a variety of band products that I’ve used and introduced to my sons as well. I’m not a spring chicken (53 yrs old), but have found RBT and the BANDs to be a more conducive way for me to train more dynamically over the years.
I’m an avid runner and just completed my 8th marathon last month so not interested in bulking up. Rather I’ve found the bands enable me to “lift” and strengthen my upper & lower body in a way to keep my posture strong late on long training runs and the marathons.
My two sons run XC in college as well and trying to direct them to use bands as well in addition to their weight & strength conditioning programs at school. For me, I like the simplicity of being able to bring my ‘gym’ equipment with me on the road and workout like I want to wherever I am.
Grateful for all of the details and workouts you’ve provided over the years. I’ve kept many of those emails as a way to go back and check what I’m doing and what other nuggets I may have missed the first time. Great new site and thanks again for making this information and yourself available to me and so many others. Appreciate your availability and more so interest in helping people. Take care and have a good day.
Dave, Since beginning resistance band training I have lost 12 pounds and I’m really seeing the difference. For the first time in 25 years, I am under 200 pounds. I have lost a total of 60 pounds and while most of the weight has been lost prior to beginning resistance band training, I am actually SEEING more of a difference since beginning RBT. Thanks again!

Just completed my first full-fledged band workout a few minutes ago and it went very well. At 70, I have typical joint issues, but your core stabilization exercises (banded planks) helped my low back, and the hip work (push outs, etc) got those nice and loose. Got a good sweat over 60 minutes and, maybe best of all, I suspect bands are easier on the nervous system. (I can no longer work hard enough with weights to get a good sweat going.)
I’m very pleased with the early progress. I probably will need to have a bone spur in my right shoulder shaved, but with bands, I expect rehab to go better than my previous shoulder surgery.
My only regret is not getting to you sooner.

I do trust the bands and your workouts. I even have my son (10 years ) using the bands for his sport (Judo) and it has made a world of difference in his progress. He is more advanced than other students because they train with heavy weights and he is training with the bands. I am always waiting for your emails on new training ideas with the bands. Keep them coming.

I totally agree with using Bands Dave. I have been using them myself and instructing all our employees, staff and clients for 15 years here at Bellin on their benefits and I will continue to do my best to get people to make a better CHOICE. I have recently been tasked to fill in as a CSCS at one of our contracted schools and have introduced RBT to the athletes and they love them. I knew they would and its great watching young athletes enjoy their workouts with bands.
I should have replied a while back but I loved your response to the gentleman who asked about traditional strength training vs using bands. I have been send that information to every man I get a chance to, trying to convince them to make bands a major part of their workouts.
Keep up the great work. I love your emails.

Just wanted you to know that I’ve had my bands for a couple of months now and love them. My shoulders elbows and knees feel great. They are my problem spots and feel better than they have in years. Thank you
I follow you on Instagram. I started the planks today. The videos are great.

Thanks for the update and reminder. This speaks to your integrity and I really appreciate it. I’ve lifted for 35+ years and know how to program my workouts in that realm. Having just turned 50 this month my goals have changed. I have mobility issues due to tightness and a bit of arthritis in my spine, not to mention some shoulder issues. I’ve been trying to incorporate some stretching and yoga into my week but I work 55 hours a week (literally. No exaggeration) and can only workout about a half hour a day. I travel for my job so my workout has to be mobile too. Prior to working so much and having 6 children I was an ultra runner too but that had to go by the wayside. I say all this to say bands and your philosophy of movement first and the flexibility of bands to be used anywhere fists my needs perfectly. I’ve been working out for 2+ weeks using the bands -stretching with them as well- and have felt some benefit in reduced pain in my low back and thoracic region as well. I need to keep learning so, I say all this to say I’m staying on with you for a bit. I’m loving the bands and am feeling better and feel confident that I can keep my fitness and rehab myself as well in the areas I need to. It’s interesting to have a coach who has their foundation in physical therapy and yet is an athlete as well. I feel like I get the best of both worlds, athleticism based in knowledge of kinesiology. I work with a lot of geriatrics so I see what happens when one stops moving and loses mobility (I’m a hospice care social worker) and muscle. I truly feel like I have found the system that I can use for the rest of my life to have total fitness in all parameters-strength, mobility, cardio, power, speed, etc… Prior to finding your info and products I was doing bodyweight stuff. That fits all my needs but I like being able to add resistance as well and the bands allow me to do that while staying still allowing me to work out when and where I need to. So, I’m staying on as a member so I can keep learning. Thanks so much.

Hey I just wanted to check in. I’ve had my bands for two weeks now and am loving it. I’ve been active and athletic my whole life. Powerlifting has left my low back pretty torqued up and given me some arthritis in my lumbar spine. Two weeks of working out with the bands has already given me some relief while still allowing me to hit my body pretty hard. Just wanted to say thank you and I think I’ve finally found the workout solution for me that I can do for the rest of my life, anywhere, anytime. I’m 50 as of two weeks ago.
I am a manual physical therapist now going on 28 years. I use many perspectives to better treat my patient’s dysfunctions; movement and otherwise. I have used Theraband and now the CLX Theraband for assistance, resistance, postural facilitation, overflow, etc. Some years ago, I bought 2 sets of the 4 bands you had out at that time (red, black, purple and green). Now that I am 54, I personally use them as my knees and shoulders are wearing out. Thanks for all the videos and insights you provide. Band training provides a great adjunct and other new options for my patients, and in particular, some pretty complex/complex neurological and Orthopaedic cases. I often use various NDT based treatment techniques to assist patients in relearning proper movement patterns.
Again, thanks for all that you do.

Hi Dave, Just finished Core Chaos. It was a great program and challenging at times, especially the elevated Bulgarian split squats. I feel my strength improved, the biggest improvement was in my balance. Working in the staggered stance really helps with the balance. I completed the RBT challenge ( squat row, chest press, NG lats row, BUP, curl, & triceps press) for time of 15:41 with black bands. I join Instagram to follow you and really enjoy the posts. I worked in one of the leg workouts, dynamic stabilizer workout, and old school Bicep/triceps workouts during the month for my extra weekly workout.

Dave, you’re great! I love watching you’re videos ( I put those workouts to use also lol), and even mix them up in my own routines.
I love how passionate you are about training, and in particular, resistance bands! I am a firm believer that you can totally transform your body and get in great shape using them.
You’ve inspired me to continue training and coming up with fun and creative exercises. I love bands, and I love training at home. So thanks again for all that you do and keep the resistance going haha!

Love the bands–as a 62 year old they have a allowed me to keep a level of strength and athleticism (and even increase those things) well below my age. I think weights alone would have simply beat me up. I can still deadlift over 400 pound–and I rarely train the deadlift with weights.

Thanks again for being so generous with your time and merchandise discounts!
Your session with John was wonderful. It was so fun to see you seamlessly move from evaluation/screening to coaching and programming. John really enjoyed it.
It was really just a wonderful experience for me to see you work with John and I know it really made an impact on John.
When I was 15, I sent in my application and was selected to be a student of Charles Atlas J what fun to get the course in the mail. For me meeting you is kind of like meeting the modern version of Charles Atlas. Your personal fitness level is obvious immediately and more importantly I think is your encouraging way and earnest desire to help people. Especially young athletes. Watching your videos and meeting you before it’s pretty clear what kind of guy you are, but seeing you work with a young athlete in person, takes it to a new level. Your positive energy and goodwill just fill up the room. You are very gifted.
When I was a little older, of course I heard about Joe Weider. I’m sure you know him. He was such a “brand guy”. I remember multiple sets, became the “Weider multiple set principle”, doing what you felt like became the “Wieder Instinctive principle” etc. He really claimed ownership of certain ideas.
Watching you, kind of reminded me of that. I think Joe Weider, was a corny, money grab kind of guy…. I don’t think you are that at all. However, I certainly think you can lay claim to ownership of some very unique ideas/methods. I wish you well in all your endeavors to grow your businesses. You really have put John and me on a new and better path. Our lives will be forever better because of it.
I’ll look forward to seeing you sometime this fall if possible.
Good luck to you and your whole family.

Hey Dave! I’ve added way more band exercises in lately and am noticing less tightness and more elasticity in and around my joints. What an amazing tool! Thank you so much for all your information and great tips on the website and RBT Weekly newsletter!
Big celebration in my small little brain today. Today is my first day working with black band. I know it’s not much, but for me an middle aged guy trying to get into shape it been a long four months banging through the workouts.
Thank you for the great products, the great videos, and the great system. I’m carrying more muscle than I ever had in my life and am wearing clothes from when I got married 20 years ago. (I’m still learning the lesson of I’m putting on weight and getting smaller in the waist so the scale no longer counts, hahahaha.
RBT Success Story
Hey, Dave, I hope all is well!
As always, I want to thank you for all that you do in helping us get better with bands…much appreciated. As time goes on and I get a little older (42), I have noticed that heavy lifting not only produces a stiff, tight feeling, but also seems to retard my athleticism in a way; I actually feel as if I am less athletic when I lift heavy. Yes, I get better at lifting progressively heavier weight, but I do not honestly experience any real transfer in terms of athleticism. I do, however, notice a great deal more transfer when I use bands. I have a few friends, who have used pneumatic resistance and have enjoyed a large degree of transfer of training, but this type of equipment is more difficult to find where bands are super convenient.
I’ve been doing RBT for a couple of years and love it. I’m 74 and have been exercising all my life. I first started as a young Marine which led me into martial arts. Then came weights and gym machines. Only lately have I discovered resistance bands and with them I have seen more progress with less soreness and zero injuries than with other systems. I have even developed a band routine that replicates the motion of swimming with freediving long fins which improved my spear-fishing. Thanks Dave. I love your workouts.
I’m really enjoying the Band Gym, especially the exercise library. I’ve been using bands pretty much exclusively for about the last 3-4 years. I feel really comfortable with most of the exercises and their setup. I took your Band Certification a couple of years back. I’m kind of at the end of a 5-year ordeal which ended in my left hip being replaced. I had my hip replacement last December (anterior approach) and the recovery has been surprisingly great, but I worked extremely hard. Once I was able to get in the water, I did a lot of deep water and shallow water work which really helped. My insurance would only pay for 10 PT sessions, so I spread them out over a 3 month period. Your dynamic stabilizer exercises were my go-to exercises. I started them at 4-5 weeks post surgery. I also used the attached assisted lunge away with two linked purple bands, which really helped pop me back up. I also used two walking sticks to help with balance. We had twin boys 6 months prior to getting my diagnosis and my daughter was just 15 months older than the boys. I feel the bands really helped me manage my workout and helped put off the surgery until it was more convenient for the family. At this point, I feel I’m at about 90%. My goal is to take the next 6-9 months and get super fit. I’m finally able to work out hard for 3-4 days without any soreness. I’m really excited about working with you and getting your coaching input. I’ll probably check in with you every couple of weeks to let you know how things are going. On a side note, I pretty much feel your weekly newsletter is a must-read and out of all the internet sites I follow (get their emails), yours is my favorite. I just feel I’m going to learn something, pick up a useful tip. I watch all your videos and LOVE them! You’re pretty much a genius!!
I’ve been following you for over 15 years and my personal training practice now revolves around using Bands-thanks to your influence.
I can’t remember where I first saw you back in the early 2000’s at a conference or seminar, but I was really motivated by your enthusiasm and technical expertise in applying resistance bands to strength training and conditioning.
I train mostly men 50s through 80s and preach and teach how bands are easier on the joints, provide greater full body workouts, and many other benefits that you can’t get with machines or free weights.
Also, from a trainer’s perspective, they allow me to move through the gym more freely, and I train people in their homes where they set up the gym only using bands.
Being 58 years old, I also have a lot of ortho problems, and the bands allowed me to continue to work out and make adjustments so I can stay in the game myself. Do you ever come to the East Coast to do seminars?
I want to genuinely wish you a very Happy Father’s Day! You continually share the pride you have for your family in your RBT messages, and that’s an incredibly honorable and encouraging expression of a Father’s love! Congrats on being a great Dad!
Thanks again for helping me to be a better Dad to my kids… my daughter’s basketball team did so great with the bands that the club is considering them for all grade levels. And the fact that I can be a Dad again without pain (physically & without emotional embarrassment) by sharing simple things like throwing a football in the yard with my boy… I’m truly blessed, and beyond grateful.
Happy Father’s Day, Dave, it’s well-deserved!
Great products and excellent support.
A continuous flow of knowledge and how to use your bands from “the” recognized expert in the field, Dave.
No reason to purchase bands anywhere else.
Thank you again Dave for all you do!

My trainer (at One Fit Body) incorporated resistance band work into my weekly exercise routine almost three years ago. My balance, strength, and stability have improved, along with my overall fitness. I’m an avid golfer with a single digit handicap. I walk 18 holes 2 days a week, with no back pain – not bad for 63 years old. Thank you for your weekly exercise videos. I continue to expand my resistance band menu of options, which keeps my weekly program fresh and interesting. I take at least one band wherever I travel maintaining the discipline and staying fit. Thanks again!

My business model wouldn’t be possible without your bands. The simplicity and transportability of your bands makes any workout possible for any level client in any location.
From the inside of Morning Bird Studio, my business, to a hotel room in Tokyo, NYC or London, the same intensity is available, repeatable and sustainable, thus keeping my clients consistent with their fitness journey.
Thank you, Dave. You’ve helped make my career more rewarding with better results for my people and I appreciate it.
I purchased the Total Fitness Package and I must say, I am seriously impressed! Quantum bands are the highest quality I’ve ever used. I’ve been researching how to train around nagging joint injuries, and as a lifetime martial artist/weight trainer (30 plus years) and my career as a Firefighter/Paramedic, I’ve accumulated quite a few. At 42 years of age, I knew that certain exercises had to be replaced or even jettisoned from my routine. I tried other bands (tubular) and they were just “ok.” It wasn’t until I discovered your website that a whole new way of training was a real possibility for me!
I absolutely love band training with Quantum bands, and they’re 80-90% of how I stay strong and mobile. Combined with a few bodyweight and kettlebell movements, I feel better and stronger than I have in years, and I fully believe that band training will be embraced by most people as they age, especially the aging athlete. I really enjoy your videos and I use them often. Like contrast deadlifts and “big boy curls.” The single band overhead press in the scapular plane is a lifesaver, and I can actually do upright rows with bands and they feel AWESOME! I highly recommend your products and I’m so thankful that I’ve found a way to stay strong and save my joints. Truly AWESOME!
Thanks and God bless.
Ok great thanks! I’ve been following you since 2008 and WOW you have really evolved over the years – congrats!! The one huge thing I love about you is no matter how big your business grows you always get back to individual emails!
Dave you are one classy man!!
The Total Fitness Package is actually quite impressive, and I’ve already got my first workout in. I have a worked out on and off for my whole adult life. I have power blocks, Lifeline Gym bands, kettlebells, and various workout options. Years ago I was a Golds Gym kind of guy, had Olympic weights and power rack at home, etc. But, you know how it is…you get bored, or lose interest, pressed for time, or get older and start to get injured every time you jump back in and start working out. For all those reasons, I was really intrigued when I found some videos of people using the flat loop bands. After researching many options I was most impressed by the fact that you are “all-in” when it comes to bands, as opposed to just offering another one of hundreds of fitness related products, AND, the information you share online is pretty extensive. So, I am really glad I found your site on the web and super pleased with my initial purchase from RBT. Your bands are no joke! Ha, and I was worried that the bands would be too weak in the package I bought and figured I’d have to immediately buy some heavier ones. I’ll be okay with these for a little while!
NICE JOB, and THANK YOU!
I wanted to share a little ‘progress report’. I’m the old guy that had a lot of shoulder pain after rotator cuff surgeries on both shoulders (my right shoulder twice). I have gained so much strength and mobility through full-body band workouts, with emphasis on shoulders, when nothing else produced results.
Prior to starting to workout with bands, I used to do a lot of pushups, but ended up having to stop due to shoulder pain. So, after having not done a single push-up in nearly a year, I decided to give them a try after my band workout yesterday. I rapidly and easily cranked out a set of 30 inclined (feet raised higher than head) push-ups without shoulder pain! I only stopped because I didn’t want to over-do it. I know this probably sounds silly, but it was a great metric for me to see the progress I’ve made using bands!
As always, thanks for all you do, and keep up the good work!

I have never been happier with any training equipment than I am with your bands!!
They are great, to be honest. I take them on every business trip I go on and I use them daily at home.
I also talk about them to all my friends or anyone who sees me in the park, airport, or anywhere I use them.
If you ever want or need someone to help sell them I think I am your guy. 🙂
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for delivering an excellent product. I will be ordering more bands to augment my training program soon. By the way, the training videos are top notch too.

Just wanted to give you more feedback — of which I’m sure you’re getting a lot — of how great your new website is! It’s awesome how much information you provide. It’s easy to find, well organized, and it’s totally free! You’ve provided many email responses to me over the years and continue to be an unmet mentor to me, not only in my personal fitness journey, but in my personal training business as well. Hi Dave! Just wanted to say that I am loving the content! I really thought I would miss traditional weight training, but I don’t! I am enjoying the variety that bands have added to my workouts and the fact that they can even complement and enhance my weight training! I don’t enjoy cardio, but your cardio videos have been a game changer there, too!
Just wanted to say I appreciate all that you do and have been sharing your training ideas with family and friends!

After 5 years of continued pain and “maintenance” exercises for my shoulder, I put my faith in you. Because of your one email explaining your rotator cuff issues and taking the leap to quit external rotations, etc. and focus on closed-chain exercises, I’m can proudly say I am able to complete a full series of push-ups (and even do high pulls, the worst pain previously) without any pain. You’ve really improved my everyday life and I am forever loyal to you & your system!

I wanted to take a minute and tell you thanks, I have been following you for about 10 years now. I have the advanced band set that is serving me well still, all my bands are from you and I have recommended you to all my friends, family, and others. I have even given single band sets as presents. You have been an incredible resource for me over the years while working in the fitness arena. You are also one of the reasons I decided to to go back to school and get my DPT. It has not been easy I needed to fight for every pre-requisite course just to be able to apply. I’ve got to say I am super excited I made in, it’s the perfect fit for me. I am now in my second year of my DPT program and I am getting ready for my second internship and I’m still benefiting from the knowledge that I gained from you over the years

Dave’s 2-day visit to the Punahou Department of Athletics is the gift that keeps on giving! In addition to significantly impacting our student athletes and Athletic Performance program, our Physical Education faculty has made training with bands an integral part of their curriculum. While Dave’s knowledge and expertise is tops in the industry, it is his ability to connect with our coaches, teachers and students through a hands-on approach that leaves a lasting impression.
