Hey Dave,
Just following up on our correspondence about my knee replacements causing some problems during my training sessions. I turned 60 last month, and I am so grateful for your experience as a coach and inventor of RBT.
I was a power lifter in my earlier years that caused most of my injuries and issues.
After emailing you about them and you advising me about several stabilizer band movements that would help me with my glutes which in turn would help with my knee issues did exactly that. My glutes are stronger and my knee issues are gone!
This my friend is very exciting to me, feeling good and being able to train daily is something I thought was gone. I do some contrast training, no more heavy weights. You have made a product that even extremely injured people can use, anywhere at anytime without a high price tag and a coach that answers every email. Unheard of in these days of outsourcing to foreign entities to answer emails.
Thanks for all of your dedication and commitment to your clients. I will be a RBT gym member for life.
Kind Regards,
Chris S.
At 6’ 8” I was painfully thin growing up. I was introduced to weights in my early 20’s and quickly my goal was to have a bigger, more muscular frame. With age and hard work, I found that 245 pounds felt good as I was muscular and a far cry from the skinny high schooler of decades past…
In early May I cancelled my gym membership and started to incorporate a daily resistance band workout coupled with 4 – 5 days of cardio + a healthy diet. I found that 3000 calories a day broken down to 45% fat, 40% protein and 15% carbs plus keeping sugars below 25 grams a day was perfect for my middle-aged frame. My goal was to lose 25 pounds and get back to the magical number of 245 (lbs.).
About two months into the process, I decided to forego focusing on the scale and instead let my body find its natural weight. Six months later, at age 54, I’m in the best shape of my life. The benefits of resistance band training supersede weight training, especially as I get older. I feel stronger, leaner, more energetic and can’t wait for the next workout to start. The ability to train indoors or outside is a huge plus and I’ve discovered you need very little space to maximize your workouts when using resistance bands. All of these factors plus minimal soreness contributed to my new mindset and I am having FUN…
Back to the scale… I started to notice my body taking shape in a way it never has before. I could see more symmetry and discovered I was leaning up in a whole new way while holding onto muscle mass. When I dipped into the 230’s I thought I would plateau, my waist was approaching 33” and for a brief period my mindset went back to the skinny teenager and being “too thin.” Instead, what I discovered was my body had more room to lean out. My mind began to push away the fear of being too thin and began to welcome the next chapter of Me…
I was pleasantly surprised this part of my journey brought up some old memories that were locked deep inside. I realize mentally and emotionally I still had some work to do. Our scars may run deep but life has a funny way of having them resurface when we’re ready to deal with the past. These moments also free us inside. For the first time I feel really good about my own body and find self-acceptance to be the most important acceptance.
Currently I sit at 228 pounds and begin to think more about how I make this sustainable as I approach my 55th birthday early next year… There’s no shortcut for hard work and I feel grateful to have the tools and desire to continue this part of my journey.
I hope by sharing each of you will also be opened to discovering your own next chapter and self-acceptance plays a big part of your overall well-being. As we approach Thanksgiving I’d like to offer thanks to Dave Schmitz for leading the resistant band movement and for all of his content!!

I highly appreciate that the newsletter is positive without blowing smoke. There’s no negging, there’s no macho BS, there’s no doomsaying about what’s going to happen if you don’t do the program or buy the stuff. But there are also no grandiose claims of instant success for everyone — just steady encouragement to keep working. All of this is truly, genuinely rare in any corner of fitness culture. Plus, knowing that you actually DO read and respond to emails means that we all know that everything you write is sincere.

My RBT journey began when I visited a trainer for an assessment when I turned 50 in 2012. I have always exercised, and was looking for information on how to train more effectively as I age.
The trainer used resistance bands, which I had never seen before. He mentioned RBT, and I ordered a starter set. I have used your bands ever since. I am decidedly stronger, but better yet, I move with less pain (I had an ACL repair in 1985 which hasn’t held me back, but the bands helped me full strengthen and lengthen muscles so that my movement is essentially the same on both sides of my body), and I am leaner. My back doesn’t bother me anymore – I think this is due to better core strength which comes from working with bands!
I look forward to new exercises in your weekly emails. I am really impressed with how accessible you are via email. My husband recently retired, and he is now a member of the Band Gym.
Thanks for all you do to teach us and help us be strong and healthy as we age.
Congrats on 11 years!

Just wanted to thank you for always responding both by email and phone. Your advice has been spot on with both my own children (son’s back surgery/Seahawks & daughter’s ACL/Central Arkansas Sand vb) to my NFL, D-1, high school, and probably most impactful the last 5 years of my special needs population. Flying out from Az to your summer seminar and then meeting you for breakfast the next day meant a lot and changed the way I looked at my programming from both a strength and speed aspect. I still share the RBT methods with our high school PE and strength coaches each year and appreciate your passion and willingness to share both professionally and personally how using BANDS is a GAME CHANGER!!!!

Dave,
While it’s great that so many testimonials on your site are about “quitting the gym and weights,” there are some of us who still enjoy the challenge of hoisting plates and DBs. For me, bands don’t replace that. But they sure make it BETTER.
1. Bands give me a safer way to do a lot of things I used to do with weights. For example, I worry a lot less doing tricep extensions with my Thunder Band. It beats the risk of crushing my skull while lifting a barbell over my head!
2. Contrast training gives me much more stability on those heavy compound lifts. In the six months I’ve been using bands with weights, I’ve hit more PRs than ever without any morning-after joint pain. Please do more contrast training videos!
3. Finally… and this is a big one… Bands let me work out in more places and in more ways than would be possible with weights. My basement “gym” has a great setup that includes weights. But during COVID, getting out of the house has been an important part of my mental well-being. Whether my getaways have just been workouts in the park or weekend trips to the beach, bands have kept me fit and optimistic. I always get back to my weights feeling stronger and more invigorated after an RBT day or two.
Anyway, I’m writing all of this because I’m glad to see you explaining that bands are not just for the “quit weights forever” crowd. If anything, they’ve helped me enjoy weights even more. Keep up the great work and keep those contrast training videos coming.
I hope we all can, as you say, “kick COVID’s butt.” At least so far for me, it’s been “bands-1… COVID-zero.”
Cheers,
Michael
Glad I purchased the thunder band set… You are the man!! So glad I joined “The Band Gym” and that you are my coach and if I have a question you answer directly! That is unheard of, most of these so called self proclaimed experts have a foreign base for their customer support and that makes the waters muddy when asking for advice. That’s why I will be a Band Gym member for life 🙂 Thanks Dave and Karen for your devotion and hard work.

Dave,
I wanted to thank you for all you do. As a bivocational pastor for over 30 years, I have ministered to many people with only a modicum of feedback. The occasional text, note, or email means much. Hence, I wanted to express my gratitude for you and for RBT.
It has been a huge help in my quest for improved fitness. RBT has been the perfect fit for me. Keep up the good work.

I have a 6×20 space leading into my bedroom where I train. I can use the utility strap on all sides of the door, to change angles and the line of pull. There is enough space to do my locomotion type exercises, shuffles, turn and go’s skaters, and crawls.
I live in an apartment complex where there is a gym equipped with dumbbells and machines. It has been closed since March because of covid-19. And when it reopens there will be a lot of restrictions, wearing masks, staying 10 ft apart from the others, wiping down machines, 40% of capacity. No thanks!
I don’t have to worry about all the above because I can do band alone training, horizontal vector training, I can add dumbbells if I want, all without leaving my apartment.
If I want to train outdoors there are soccer fields, and parks with chain link fences within a 1/2 mile where I live and I just use my band utility strap and I am ready to go, get some Vitamin D.
The versatility of the bands and the convenience it provides within just a small space for me, makes it a no brainer. I use my smart phone for intervals and tabata training, to get metabolic type conditioning. And at 70 years old, reaction time, mobility is very important to me. The bands allow me to train fast twitch muscle fibers more efficiently.
Dave, thanks for all the wonderful content you provide.

Before we all get busy with reopening and life trying to return to a new normal I just wanted to thank you. Thank you for all the things you did over the last few months. The videos are great. They keep me wanting more. The calm way you approach what’s happening is wonderful. It really helped when I had dark moments early on.
Once again. Thank you. You are one of my essential services. Please you and yours be safe.

Dave,
Just wanted to say your bands are great. I was doing bodyweight workouts last year and injured my shoulder. Then I got sick, I was getting overworked and my health went really downhill.
When I started physical therapy this year, they introduced me to bands with some basic rehab movements.
I looked up some different bands to use at home. 90% of the bands on the market are all the same. They’re not made to last. Sometimes they break right away. In other words, the other guys aren’t invested in my health and aren’t invested in their product. They just want to make a quick sale and move on.
I’m making a long term investment in my health. I’m taking care of myself and getting in shape. My health isn’t about a fad, a gimmick, or instant gratification.
What I like best about RBT is your own commitment, your own investment, in your health, and in your product. These bands are made to last, made to do real work, and made to support my program as long as I need. Your videos, all the information and support, and the products are all great.
These bands make a great upgrade to my regular routine and really help my progress in weaker spots where I need just a little help.
RBT is awesome. Keep up the good work.
Thanks

Dave,
I lead a Boot Camp group that moved to Zoom after COVID hit. I delivered bands from my gym to those who didn’t have their own. Bands have allowed a lot of variety for the workouts I have my group do at home. I watch your videos and incorporate many into my group’s workouts (appreciate the regression and progression on the exercises too). Big thanks to you and Karen for all you have done and keep doing!!
Stay safe!

I just wanted to say that I’m an intermittent correspondent, and your willingness to engage with your customers was exceptional before coronavirus, let alone with it. It’s one of the reasons that when I decided to try to get my brother hooked, I came to you for recommendations on a good package, and you gave me a thoughtful, personalized answer. You’ve also answered random questions where there was no immediate financial payoff: alternate exercises when one didn’t work for me, problems understanding one of your workout videos, etc. My orders ship promptly, the product is high quality, and the support is first rate.
Be proud, stay healthy, and hats off to your wife. Great to see the teamwork.

Dave,
Your interview with GetUWired was fantastic! I learned so many things about you and your business.
In addition to all of the beginners you’ve helped, there are probably a lot of people like me: Folks who were very into fitness and found themselves lost when Covid hit. We were locked out of our pricey gyms. Dumbbells were harder to get than toilet paper. We didn’t have the acrobatic skills to do body weight exercises without getting hurt. But you were right there for people like me– providing the education and equipment we needed to continue getting better.
One of the points you made in the interview is that people want a “one stop” package that does it all for them. One of the best things about your site and business is that you DON’T do this or claim to. Giving me the information to design my own workouts that fit my needs has been much more valuable. And, of course, being able to email you with questions has been uniquely awesome.
I wish you continued success!

Just wanted to say that I received my bands quickly and just did my first full workout with them. They are great! So much better than the cheap versions I had been using. And thanks again for the training guide. I don’t think I’ll be going back into a gym any time soon.

Dave, the bands are working great. They have filled in perfectly while gyms have been closed down. I have found that I get an excellent workout and I will continue to use the bands when gyms eventually open again. Your company really came through. I have referred RBT to several people.

Good morning Dave,
I wanted to tell you thank you for a couple of different things. Firstly, thank you so much for your help in our ordering and shipping during this COVID shutdown. You and your wife did a phenomenal job. We had some different types of requests for shipping to all of our various athletes scattered around the country and you took care of it wonderfully. Secondly, thank you for all your hard work that you do in developing and posting exercises. I have implemented many of them with our teams. Your passion, drive, quality of bands, and customer service are fantastic. I really appreciate you taking time to talk to me over the phone, giving me some ideas, and how best to use the Activator band. Thank you, again.

Dave,
I wanted to reach out to thank you. As we began the Stay at Home order and challenging times back in March, we realized we were going to have to transition everything that we offer in person at Edge Fitness and Sports Performance to an online model. Many of our members and clients had little to no equipment. In order for us to continue to help them to be successful and working towards their goals, we would need to do something more. We reached out to you and were able to connect all who were interested with band packages. With your help we have been able to keep our members active, healthy, and happy. Thank you Dave, we appreciate you!

Dave,
Just want to second that email. You were the one that really opened my eyes as far as what bands can do for someone, and I have been training my clients with bands for about 5 years now. Watching your videos has taught me a lot, and I am constantly trying to think of new ways to incorporate bands into workouts. And your bands are definitely the best out there. We have had some other brands at our facility (along with yours), and they constantly break while yours stand the test of time. The stretch quality of your bands is also much better. Keep doing what you’re doing. I really appreciate your dedication to your craft.

Dave,
My order was placed last night.
I have to say… being totally honest… that I saw many options (Amazon) and I found cheaper options; however I have doubts about the quality of the cheap ones… I am sure your bands are much much better quality since you have been doing this x yrs… another factor that helped me to proceed with you was that you really care about your potential clients… you responded to all my emails very fast and clarified all my doubts. Highly impressed with your customer service!! Good job my friend.
I’m super excited to start to use them… Can’t wait to start!
Thanks Dave!

We’re doing great with our new home workout schedule and your bands are a big part of that. Coupled along with our dumb bells and a bench, we’ve been able to stay fit without our normal gym!
Thanks for reaching out, and we definitely have been telling our friends about, not only your bands, but the great customer service!
Thanks again!

Hey Dave!
Quick note: some people might say “Dave your emails are killing me. Too many emails. Too often”.
Not me. Keep them coming.
Each email I get from you is a motivational trigger I can use to get off my butt [working from home] and begin new habit formation using my bands [and spin bike, fit ball, bosu, etc.]. With bands being the axel that everything else spins around.
Any ideas you have on ‘integrating’ bands with fit ball & bosu are welcomed.
I LOVE your dedication to your work.
What a great PURPOSE… helping folks like me be their best so I can do more Good in the World.
Freakin’ awesome!

Dave – I just wanted to shoot you a quick note to say “Thank you!”.
In the midst of the chaos and quickly evolving situation with COVID-19, many of my friends are stressing because they are scared to go to their local gyms to workout. This fear has not once entered my mind because of RBT. You have prepared me and so many others for being able to workout wherever we are. I won’t miss a workout due to not being able to go somewhere. This situation has also allowed the opportunity for me to share about you & RBT without falling on deaf ears or being dismissed as a fantastic workout option.
Thank you, Dave, for leading the charge!!
See you in the Band Gym, quarantined or not!

Of all the certifications I’ve worked on since becoming a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer last year, this Resistance Band Training certification from Dave Schmitz & Resistance Band Training will probably be my favorite & most cherished.
When I became I trainer I wanted to figure out how to make exercise easy & portable because I knew working at a gym wouldn’t fit with my current 9-5 & family life. At that point I came across flat looped resistance bands & immediately fell in love. It’s been a joy learning how to use bands the last few months & I’ve already noticed how they’ve impacted my own workouts.
Not only that, but Dave has been very kind & willing to share his knowledge beyond the certification. He’s a great teacher & mentor that I hope to continue learning from for years to come!
I look forward to sharing this knowledge with others as I help them achieve their fitness goals!

My goals with RBT are to maintain muscle and muscle tone and to keep flexible and fit. I’ve been using bands for the last 3 or 4 years. Before that I’ve trained with weights for 30+ years. My focus has changed as I get older, as yours probably has Dave. At my age of 50 my aim isn’t the same as it was when I was 16 when I first started training. I’m finding that I enjoy training with bands more (than with traditional weights) with the variety and ease of use, also the fact that they are so portable (I take them with me even when I go on vacation).
Anyway, Dave can I take a moment to say that you are an inspiration and a very genuine person, I watch every single video you upload on your YouTube channel for ideas. Thank you for taking the time to read my email, keep up the good work, from one of your fans in the U.K
Thanks,

Good morning Dave,
I hope this email finds you well. After the IYCA summit almost 8 years ago when you introduced me to adding bands into my program I still have and use most of the original bands at my center everyday. A big thank you! If they broke more often I would be buying more or I guess if they broke too much I might need to go somewhere else. So thanks for creating and promoting a great product. I continually revisit your educational materials I have gotten like the IYCA resistance band instructors course, flexibility, and quick kids camp. As you know they are great for everyone. I feel I do a pretty good job keeping them healthy although a couple knucklehead coaches/student athletes don’t follow rules and they wear down faster as you know. I am about to put in another small order in and more before the summer to run larger groups. As always, the growing strength coaches are on a budget. Thank you again for bringing a great product to the industry.
I am looking forward to hearing from you,

Hi Dave,
I am doing 5-6 sessions a week with the bands. My 74 year old body is changing and I am looking a lot more youthful. I don’t see any 74 year olds around here that look as good as I do.
Many years ago I was a track cyclist. When I was 46 I had a very bad accident on my track bike and I lost the use of my right arm for 7 months. I severely damaged the brachial plexus. I lost a tremendous amount of muscle in my right arm and shoulder and upper back. I rehabbed myself but was never the same. My bicep was about the diameter of a pencil. Over the years I’ve gained a lot back but never got above about 80%.
Since I got bands I have been concentrating a lot of effort to bring myself back to 100% on my right side. Dave, I am almost there. I have had significant muscle growth in arm, shoulder and upper back and traps. The bands make it easy to reach into hard to work old muscles. My right bicep is nearly as large as my left and I am sure I will equalize my right and left sides.
This is great stuff. A 74 year old CAN gain muscle. My waist is smaller now as well. I am down two pants sizes but am up 3 pounds from my lowest. That can only mean I have gained muscle. BTW, the instructions in the band gym are very helpful.
Cheers.

I’m a 28-Day Challenge grad, now in the middle of my 3rd week of the 28-Day Momentum Builder. I’m happy with my Band Gym membership and have completed the checkboxes. I’m 72 and in reasonably good shape despite an artificial knee implanted 6 months ago. I’m coming off 5 years of Bodylastics/Eternity Warrior tube training, and before that about 5 years with a Total Gym. I have a set of loop bands purchased before I discovered RBT and have supplemented them with purchases of RBT bands and accessories. I plan to completely transition to Quantum over time.
As a veteran home exerciser, I wanted you to know how impressed I am with RBT. I like the versatility of the loop bands, your short instructional videos, well-balanced programs, and opportunities for personal coaching.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi Dave!
First off I want to say that I love your products and your workout videos! They have changed my life infinitely for the better. I am fifty-four years old and I am getting stronger by leaps and bounds. My shoulders, back, knees, neck and various other injured body parts have all healed. My athleticism has returned to stellar levels. It’s almost unbelievable how much I have changed in the last two years. I have always had exceptionally fast hand & foot movement, and coordination but to my surprise, I have gotten even quicker. I have patiently done your exercises starting with your smallest orange band and gradually worked my way up as l healed. They work your body WAY HARDER than weights. My abs have gotten as hard as they were as a teenager. I walk around feeling like a coiled up steel spring. Thank you so much for all your efforts in helping people like me! I appreciate you, Dave!!!!
P.S., I don’t know if you have heard but there is a guy on YouTube named James Grage stealing your material. He says “Welcome to RBT, Resistance Band Training. He claims that he couldn’t find any quality band training on YouTube, so he started his channel. B.S.! A quick search shows both your channels with tons of videos. I am sorry about having to tell you this. I just really respect you and couldn’t let it slide. Thanks again for all your help. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

I’m an avid runner, I’ve run several marathons including the Boston Marathon.
Last year I kept getting injured because I was just running and not strengthening my body enough to handle the load. I found RBT on YouTube and ordered bands and Stabilizers.
The BANDS are fantastic and so portable. BUT The BAND GYM is even better as I can now train with a directed purpose. However, the BEST part of The BAND GYM is having access to DAVE and having him guide you through your training. In the short time I’ve had the bands and especially the Dynamic Stabilizers the long-standing issues I’ve had with my knees, hips and glutes have diminished.
Thank You RBT and Dave, I can’t recommend the Bands, the Band Gym, and Dave any stronger. My only regret is that I had not come across RBT and Dave sooner.

Hi Dave! I really need to share this with you and shoutout a big THANK YOU for your videos and your passion with your bands. My husband and I live in Hawaii and we are avid surfers. I’m a surf instructor as well. Our goal is to be in the best shape possible for what we do. We recently took a trip to New Jersey to visit family and we stayed a month. I was concerned that I was going to lose my surf fitness, but we took our bands with us and every day, we did our workout. It was 99% bands plus the addition of a TRX trainer. We just got back and went for a surf. Usually, after a month of not surfing, I’m a bit off and out of shape. Not this time!! In fact, I have never felt stronger. My paddling and balance were all on point thanks to the bands! On top of that, my husband has been using the bands for a year now to alleviate his lower back pain. Not only does he have a 6 pack at 45 years old, best of all, the bands are the antidote for his pain. Amazing and awesome. I can’t live without them and neither can he. Again, thank you, thank you for your product and the knowledge you put on YouTube!!!!

Dave,
Keep on providing us with great ideas!
I agree with you…you can definitely train hard with bands… if they are the right bands. A few years ago I began training with tubular bands… before discovering your Quantum Bands… totally a better experience.
And are very portable on the road!
I love old dumbbells and kettlebells, but my body feels that bands add something to complete a better training experience.
I think you are giving great education, which is much more important than mere workouts… if you understand the “why” of what you are doing it’s just much more useful!

Dave,
Thanks for the swift response. I do all my training with bands. They are perfect for protecting joints, promoting mobility, and fitness. I gave away all my weights a couple of years ago. I’d taken on board your information about injury and damage to the body. In my late 70’s, I find that bands are ideal. I have abandoned the notion of testing my strength with weights, and instead, make full use of the full range I have of your excellent bands.
Your points about timed routines are well taken, but I like sets and reps. I guess it is as simple as that. EG: drop sets; sets to failure with thunder bands: chest presses, squat rows – a great exercise. The sheer variety is remarkable.
Overall, I am feeling good and fit using bands. That is the best test.
The Gym is a great institution. Thanks for all the support.
Kind regards,
