I am a recovering heart attack patient of 2 years ago. I have been receiving your emails and studying your work through your website for the past year. Limited space at home and not wanting to deal with heavy weights has prompted me to ramp up the work I have already begun using bands. Your explanation of flat bands over what I am currently using has convinced me to switch. I want to primarily continue the cardio workouts I do at rehab and at home, but I realize that the strength training segments, although somewhat limited, have significantly increased my endurance factor while doing the cardio. Increased strength training using the stretch bands is now my immediate goal. I have assimilated about 12 exercises which I have seen you demonstrate over the past year which I am beginning to incorporate in my home routine.
I would appreciate your thoughts (on exercises) and also my thanks for all the information and guidance you have been for me over the last year.

I’ve had the pleasure of getting emails from you over the last five years, which got me to purchase a variety of band products that I’ve used and introduced to my sons as well. I’m not a spring chicken (53 yrs old), but have found RBT and the BANDs to be a more conducive way for me to train more dynamically over the years.
I’m an avid runner and just completed my 8th marathon last month so not interested in bulking up. Rather I’ve found the bands enable me to “lift” and strengthen my upper & lower body in a way to keep my posture strong late on long training runs and the marathons.
My two sons run XC in college as well and trying to direct them to use bands as well in addition to their weight & strength conditioning programs at school. For me, I like the simplicity of being able to bring my ‘gym’ equipment with me on the road and workout like I want to wherever I am.
Grateful for all of the details and workouts you’ve provided over the years. I’ve kept many of those emails as a way to go back and check what I’m doing and what other nuggets I may have missed the first time. Thanks for the update and reminder. This speaks to your integrity and I really appreciate it. I’ve lifted for 35+ years and know how to program my workouts in that realm. Having just turned 50 this month my goals have changed. I have mobility issues due to tightness and a bit of arthritis in my spine, not to mention some shoulder issues. I’ve been trying to incorporate some stretching and yoga into my week but I work 55 hours a week (literally. No exaggeration) and can only workout about a half hour a day. I travel for my job so my workout has to be mobile too. Prior to working so much and having 6 children I was an ultra runner too but that had to go by the wayside. I say all this to say bands and your philosophy of movement first and the flexibility of bands to be used anywhere fists my needs perfectly. I’ve been working out for 2+ weeks using the bands -stretching with them as well- and have felt some benefit in reduced pain in my low back and thoracic region as well. I need to keep learning so, I say all this to say I’m staying on with you for a bit. I’m loving the bands and am feeling better and feel confident that I can keep my fitness and rehab myself as well in the areas I need to. It’s interesting to have a coach who has their foundation in physical therapy and yet is an athlete as well. I feel like I get the best of both worlds, athleticism based in knowledge of kinesiology. I work with a lot of geriatrics so I see what happens when one stops moving and loses mobility (I’m a hospice care social worker) and muscle. I truly feel like I have found the system that I can use for the rest of my life to have total fitness in all parameters-strength, mobility, cardio, power, speed, etc… Prior to finding your info and products I was doing bodyweight stuff. That fits all my needs but I like being able to add resistance as well and the bands allow me to do that while staying still allowing me to work out when and where I need to. So, I’m staying on as a member so I can keep learning. Thanks so much.

When I was 15, I sent in my application and was selected to be a student of Charles Atlas J what fun to get the course in the mail. For me meeting you is kind of like meeting the modern version of Charles Atlas. Your personal fitness level is obvious immediately and more importantly I think is your encouraging way and earnest desire to help people. Especially young athletes. Watching your videos and meeting you before it’s pretty clear what kind of guy you are, but seeing you work with a young athlete in person, takes it to a new level. Your positive energy and goodwill just fill up the room. You are very gifted.
When I was a little older, of course I heard about Joe Weider. I’m sure you know him. He was such a “brand guy”. I remember multiple sets, became the “Weider multiple set principle”, doing what you felt like became the “Wieder Instinctive principle” etc. He really claimed ownership of certain ideas.
Watching you, kind of reminded me of that. I think Joe Weider, was a corny, money grab kind of guy…. I don’t think you are that at all. However, I certainly think you can lay claim to ownership of some very unique ideas/methods. I wish you well in all your endeavors to grow your businesses. You really have put John and me on a new and better path. Our lives will be forever better because of it.

Big celebration in my small little brain today. Today is my first day working with black band. I know it’s not much, but for me an middle aged guy trying to get into shape it been a long four months banging through the workouts.
Thank you for the great products, the great videos, and the great system. I’m carrying more muscle than I ever had in my life and am wearing clothes from when I got married 20 years ago. (I’m still learning the lesson of I’m putting on weight and getting smaller in the waist so the scale no longer counts, hahahaha.

I’m really enjoying the Band Gym, especially the exercise library. I’ve been using bands pretty much exclusively for about the last 3-4 years. I feel really comfortable with most of the exercises and their setup. I took your Band Certification a couple of years back. I’m kind of at the end of a 5-year ordeal which ended in my left hip being replaced. I had my hip replacement last December (anterior approach) and the recovery has been surprisingly great, but I worked extremely hard. Once I was able to get in the water, I did a lot of deep water and shallow water work which really helped. My insurance would only pay for 10 PT sessions, so I spread them out over a 3 month period. Your dynamic stabilizer exercises were my go-to exercises. I started them at 4-5 weeks post surgery. I also used the attached assisted lunge away with two linked purple bands, which really helped pop me back up. I also used two walking sticks to help with balance. We had twin boys 6 months prior to getting my diagnosis and my daughter was just 15 months older than the boys. I feel the bands really helped me manage my workout and helped put off the surgery until it was more convenient for the family. At this point, I feel I’m at about 90%. My goal is to take the next 6-9 months and get super fit. I’m finally able to work out hard for 3-4 days without any soreness. I’m really excited about working with you and getting your coaching input. I’ll probably check in with you every couple of weeks to let you know how things are going. On a side note, I pretty much feel your weekly newsletter is a must-read and out of all the internet sites I follow (get their emails), yours is my favorite. I just feel I’m going to learn something, pick up a useful tip. I watch all your videos and LOVE them! You’re pretty much a genius!!

The Total Fitness Package is actually quite impressive, and I’ve already got my first workout in. I have a worked out on and off for my whole adult life. I have power blocks, Lifeline Gym bands, kettlebells, and various workout options. Years ago I was a Golds Gym kind of guy, had Olympic weights and power rack at home, etc. But, you know how it is…you get bored, or lose interest, pressed for time, or get older and start to get injured every time you jump back in and start working out. For all those reasons, I was really intrigued when I found some videos of people using the flat loop bands. After researching many options I was most impressed by the fact that you are “all-in” when it comes to bands, as opposed to just offering another one of hundreds of fitness related products, AND, the information you share online is pretty extensive. So, I am really glad I found your site on the web and super pleased with my initial purchase from RBT. Your bands are no joke! Ha, and I was worried that the bands would be too weak in the package I bought and figured I’d have to immediately buy some heavier ones. I’ll be okay with these for a little while!

You’ve answered all my questions! I have to say that my band workouts have been more effective than I would have thought possible. My full-body routine takes about an hour to complete, every other day.
I’m 60, and play drums in two local bands. I’ve had rotator cuff repair surgeries on both shoulders – my left shoulder back in 2005, and twice on my right shoulder – first in 2012, and again in 2014. Since then, I’ve had so much pain and fatigue in my right shoulder when playing that I was afraid it was going permanently sideline me… The resistance band training I’ve been doing over the past few months have resulted in a remarkable improvement in flexibility and strength. Four-hour gigs, which used to leave me almost unable to lift my right arm, are now easy for me! No other strength training method I tried ever helped nearly as much…
So, thanks again for your efforts to get band training info to the masses – I’m sure you’ve had a positive effect on more folks than you know 🙂

I had bodylastics before Quantum Bands. These bands are much better. Once you get used to not having the handles you realize that you can get a much better workout without stopping to clip handles on and off. You can work out much harder and faster without stopping to transition.
I use your bands and guidance all the time. Honestly, when it comes to bands, your words are gospel. I will say that band training has changed my approach to a lot of things. I have gotten a lot of people at work to use the bands as well. We have a lunch time workout or a morning workout together. They love it.

Thank you Dave. As a longtime free weight strength trainer, athlete and personal trainer, I have in the last five years experienced the great benefits of specifically designed, program based band training. I am a pretty fit 58-year-old, and a believer now that band training can and does as a singular tool, provide a path to both muscular strength and definition. I have trained just using bands, and they absolutely do provide positive results. Yes, there is sometimes a different feel, or “pump”, than that which one may feel using free weights, especially when going heavy, but band training works. Glad there are passionate, informed professionals like you that provide accurate, depth-based information.
I started bands about 4 years ago. I have recruited at least a dozen friends in Australia who now regularly work out with bands. If I wasn’t working in the coffee industry, I’d be a high school PE teacher, coaching basketball or some sort of football, and WITHOUT DOUBT, my classes would include bands and my players would be training with bands.
So, thank you for what you do. Your videos, emails, blogs, posts etc have revolutionized my exercise regime and my understanding of core-related functional strength.
You’re a game changer.
I now have core and lean muscle strength I didn’t have from well…up until I was 36 years old. My lower back was crap, I had to give up surfing and was in constant pain.
But not anymore! I was back on the board in April for the first time in 5 years and almost every day is pain-free for my back.
I do bands about 5-6 times a week. I should stretch more because it feels so good, but that’s about all I can improve.

Man getting old does suck. My goal was always to stay as strong as possible, unfortunately as you know lifting in the older years can become a chore especially on our joints. At a very young age of 52, I had bilateral knee replacements which lead to several more surgeries due to major complication. 3 year later, several surgeries and 50 lbs heavier, I thought my workout days were over. Then I stumbled upon your site. I saw my chance that just maybe I can do this even though most people with my complications could hardly move, much less exercise. Fast forward 2 years, I think I have just about purchased every one of your programs and now I have joined The Band Gym. It’s great to now have you as my personal coach all the time!! Since starting RBT, I am down 40 lbs with 28 more to go. I may not be able to hit rock bottom on the overhead squat but for me and where I came from, just squatting is awesome. I still have some post pain issues but RBT makes me feel great and I can see progress every week!! I just had x rays taken last month and the replacement looked awesome! RBT is the freaking bomb!! Dave, Thanks for doing what you do, it has been a life-changer for me in so many ways!!!

I thought I would send you a quick update on my progress. I am finishing up week 5 of the 12 week BandStrong program and it’s going very well. I am glad you suggested that I continue on and not repeat the first week. Since then I have been able to complete all of the rounds as required, although not easily, and have made great improvements overall. I was going to ask you about how to handle the sore knees I have experienced over the last year, but the training has improved the strength of my knees that I no longer have the pain.
I have also been tracking my resting heart rate with my Fitbit over the last 7 months. Since starting the RBT training, my resting heart rate has gone down on average by 5 BPM. That’s an unexpected surprise that I’m really happy about as well.
My wife started this week with the “4 Week Band Starter Program” since she doesn’t feel she is ready for the Band Strong Program. I am wondering if I should order the orange bands for her since she struggles a little with the overhead press type exercises with the red.
I am also considering ordering a pair of the green bands for me. The bands I have are certainly enough for me as I go through the BandStrong program, but I thought I could start incorporating the green as I improve over the coming weeks.
My initial concerns going into this program were my joints and excessive soreness and that still has not been an issue.
Your coaching videos and PDFs have been awesome and really appreciated! I look forward to progressing further!
I’ve been using your bands exclusively for the past 2 years since a major shoulder surgery. At the time I feared lifting days were done. I was 61 years old and just assume that I’d waste away, like most my age do. They were, but your product is, at least for me, way superior to lifting. At that time, the PT was rehabbing it with bands and I decided to use bands for everything as well. I started with tube shaped bands, which were ok, but once I discovered your product, I gave them away.
I’m currently age 63 and workout with your bands 45 minutes every other day. I do sprints on a schwinn airdyne on the alternate days, never miss a workout. Today I look and feel better than I have since my late 30s.
I’m attaching some pictures to show you progress. Thanks for creating a simple, honest, no bullshit way for older people to stay in great shape.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the information and exercises that you have shared with me. I am starting to grow my workout business more now and my new clients are loving the resistance workouts. Many have been in gym situations where all they did was burpees and lift huge amounts of weights. They are enjoying the fact that they are getting a great workout and don’t have the joint issues that go along with 300# squats. Love the workouts myself also. It just amazes me that I can take a big rubber band and work out until I get the same burn that I could barely achieve with a ½ ton of weight on a machine or bar. Thanks again for all the goodies.

I have to tell you that my first week of using the bands has been absolutely amazing. My legs feel totally different and my knees are feeling better already. The dynamic stabilizer band is tough but definitely can feel results from using it. My favorite exercises are the back pedals and shuffle–they feel amazing. For the first time in a long time I believe that I can get fit and strong without worrying about my knees and ankles–that’s saying a lot from a 58-year old who is 50 pounds overweight. Thank you so much for your help in picking the right bands and workout for my current level of fitness and areas of weakness.

RBT Resistance bands are SOOOO much better than any others I’ve used! You can feel the difference in quality the min you pick them up, and they are so durable. And I also love them way more than resistance tubes.
I also love your training programs and there is so much variety that you can always switch it up. In addition, It’s great to leave a resistance band laying around and just pick it up for a quick set any time and in-between. Your accessories have also been a huge help to expand even further, although I love just using the bands on their own.
I only use RBT Bands and your programs now, No weights etc.
