Hi Dave,

It’s great going with the resistance bands! I’m really enjoying them.

Exactly as you say, I can feel them helping me maintain a high level of fitness and strength. I decided to work exclusively with the bands over a two-week period, keeping the dumbbells idle. I’m amazed how I’m able to move from exercise to exercise with the bands and how quickly the time passes. I’m delighted with the way my muscles feel after band workouts, especially how different they feel compared to after lifting weights. After strenuous workouts with the dumbbells, whatever muscle group I focus on often feels sore for a full day or two. With the resistance bands, I am able to work shoulders and chest one day, biceps another, legs another, with muscles feeling taut afterward, not sore. This week I did band workouts Monday through Friday, some days moderate effort, some days full-on, then today, Saturday, went for a speed walk with my hiking poles. (I keep the poles short length and swing them around in different movements while I’m walking, stretching my arms as I go. It feels therapeutic and adds to my effort while walking.) After two weeks, I can feel the beneficial effects of the resistance bands.

I appreciate your note about how it seems the young guys want to build bulk while the older guys are looking for overall fitness and strength. At 72 I’m certainly not looking to gain huge muscle mass, but rather to stay fit, strong and agile. That said, now, after a couple of weeks with band-only workouts, I may slowly incorporate dumbbells into the workout after I’ve warmed up and done a number of exercises with the bands.

Perhaps most important though, is that as I workout with the bands, feeling my body going through the moves, I can sense that this is something I can do over the long haul without injuring myself. I’ve endured plenty of sports injuries through the decades, and beyond the pain aspect, they’ve taken me out of my game. Injury recovery periods are time lost, and at my age, that’s something I feel I cannot afford.

Thank you for reaching out for providing a great product,
