Strength Training with Bands

Strength Training with Bands comes down to Time under Tension while inviting the trunk to join you.

 

There are a lot of theories about how to gain strength and all of them have their arguments.   When it comes to strength training with bands, I have many people that don’t feel you can get stronger using bands.   To me seeing is believing and I always go back to the simple formula that if you make muscles push against a resistance repeatedly they are going to have to adapt.

 

Now that said, you know I am not opposed to deadweight training or body weight training.

 

The key to developing strength is putting the body under tension with a resistance and this can be done in many ways, including using bands.

 

However, I think there is another key factor to gaining strength that bands can make a big difference on.    When the abdominal muscle are forced to be engaged aggressively while performing some type of strengthening exercise the primary muscles being used are more aggressively recruited.  As a result if I can strength train with bands and get my abs to become more engaged, I think the potential for greater strength gains increases.

 

I have been playing around with this more recently with all my traveling and I have a couple of strength training band exercises I think you will enjoy trying.  They put your body under some serious tension, make you push or pull a resistance and engage your abs like crazy.

 

After you try these, if you think that strength training with bands is not going to actually increase your strength, I would be surprised.
