Linking Resistance Bands Together - 9th February 2012
Linking resistance bands together…. A problem that is now eliminated
Doing things the same way all the time simply because it’s the way it’s done is not part of my mind set.
For instances:
- Always linking resistance bands together in 4s  versus just using 2 bands
- Shortening up a band by creating a soft knot so it fits different height individuals
- Using the band itself as a belt or harness instead of having to buy a separate belt or harness
- Doing 2 step drills by linking resistance bands together in pair instead of only doing full running drills of 5 or 6 steps
- Creating multiple ways to hook bands up versus having to buy additional bands
- Linking resistance bands together to make the starting resistance easier instead of having to buy smaller bands
- Link 2 bands into 1 to create a bilateral training option with less starting tension
I could go on for a long time but the fact is when it comes to resistance band training, your imagination is really the limiting factor in how versatile you want to make them.
Ever since I started linking resistance bands together, it has always been an issue with getting the links apart.  I understood what was happening but no matter how much I educated bands were still getting to tight.   The problem was that if we used something to actual link them together, that widget had to be something that would not endanger anyone if a band broke and that widget went flying through the air. Therefore anything metal or plastic based would not work. Secondly it had to hold up under pretty strong forces which therefore eliminated any type of snap or cloth based structure.
However about 8 months ago, I came across an idea of how to link bands together without having to physically attach the bands.  We call it the Link Strap and after some extend testing with some very aggressive athletes in some very strong bands, we determined it would work.
So you now no longer have to work at getting those links apart if you had issue with that.
The Link Strap eliminates the problems that come with linking resistance bands together  and if used as recommended we think will even add longevity to your bands.
Make sure you check out the Link Strap video and shoot me any additional questions you may have.
