Partner Band Training and becoming a Mentor Leader - 25th January 2012

Partner Band Training will help you become a better bootcamp leader

As I was traveling the past few days I had the opportunity to listen to Tony Dungy’s new book, Mentor Leadership.  An outstanding book that I highly recommend

Upon returning to my office yesterday, interestingly one of the emails I received was a Fitness Professional asking about how to create a portable band attachment device.    Considering the tension that bands create, unless the device is at least 300 pounds and has a wide base of support it will probably not remain stationary.

Plus, if you have to lug around 300 plus pounds of weight to stabilize some type of standard, the portability of band training will be lost.

So what does this have to do with Tony Dungy’s Book??

Well, what I suggested to this individual is he look at doing Partner Band Training.

First of all Partner Band Training makes going from location to location super easy and versatile because:

  • Set-ups take less than a minute
  • You have unlimited resistance at your disposal
  • You can train all aspects of fitness
  • You can easily modify for any client
  • You can train a large group easily and all you need is good size duffel bag to carry everything around.

Now that is the physical benefits of Partner Band Training

After listening to Tony Dungy’s Mentor Leadership here is how partner band training is going to help you become a stronger Fitness Mentor Leader to your clients

Bands OPTIMIZE TEAM SUCCESS and to become a strong Mentor Leader, you must build around  team success while minimizing the risk of failure.  Having success on a team or partnership amplifies all the benefits that come with a successful experience    TEAM SUCCESS IS 10 TIMES EVEN BETTER THEN INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS.

You have EQUIPPED them with a tool that matches any fitness level or training intensity.  As a result you have equipped your clients with a tool you know and they are about to find out, will allow them to train hard, train all aspects of fitness and allow them to do it with even when you or the team are not available.  WHAT A COOL GIFT YOU HAVE GIVEN ALL OF THEM.

You are going to EMPOWER your clients to take control of their fitness plan by EDUCATING them about the most versatile tool on the market.  Very few people know how effective bands are to train with and how quickly they can get results.   Once your clients experience training with bands as a team for 1 to 2 sessions, they will be hooked and grateful to you for  creating a team culture that is built around GETTING BETTER TOGETHER.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIP is what life and being a mentor leader is all about.  Some of the best relationships evolve from being placed onto a team and having to sweat, struggle and thrive together.   By introducing Partner Band Training, you will be able to watch as members of your camp build relationships that last forever.    I have found nothing more gratifying than seeing a team I helped build have great success.    HOWEVER ALWAYS REMEMBER… IT IS ABOUT THEM NOT YOU.

If you haven’t experimented or attempted Partner Band Training it is really pretty easy and trust me the results are amazing.

After following Dave for the past few years, I have made band training a major component of my conditioning class. 75% of the time we RBT, we are training in partners. It’s so versatile and the kids love it while they hate it. They hate because it kicks their rear ends, but the love it because they get so much out of it. The days we just lift weights have almost become our easier rest days now. It’s great to see when they almost instinctively start pushing each other and cheering their training partner on while working together.

Thanks a thousand times over to Dave for channeling this information out there and opening my eyes to RBT. YOu have to try it yourself and then you quickly get it!
